There are no shortcuts in organizing intermodal truck drivers.
1) All truck drivers must be represented as one bargaining unit with those owning trucks having a secondary relationship as a lessor of a vehicle. 2) All west coast harbors must be organized and mobilized in unison, Vancouver to San Diego. And any withholding of labor must be done with surgical precision with efficient planning for ultimate impact and result. 3) Once the first phase of getting the motor carriers under contract has been reach the mother of all wars must be taken on as then truckers must win that they have a secondary employer, the PMA, which must be party to the contract. That would be the only way to keep non-union motor carriers out of the harbor.
We salute our brothers in the north and look foward to uniformed action in the future.
